  1. General addition for pre-phase Programme mgr (slide 25-69) on decreasing risks when working together with Internet Service provider in eg. Mali.
On the one side, ISPs work under very informal conditions and formal agreements not taken seriously. On the other side the provider of satellite services (eg. Geolink) is formal.
Advantage: flexibility in contract can benefit ISP’s client. Lower prices and/or better service can be negotiated.

However there are also disadvantages. When ISP misinterprets the satellite services conditions and offer, the client could be misinformed, leading to possible negative consequences for the client. It is made more difficult when the ISP has a certain monopoly in the country.

It is therefore important to put certain checks in place (add to risk assessment and management plan?):
    - Are the prices given by the ISP correct? Are there possibilities to check directly with the satellite service provider?
    - Which other conditions are given? What are, if any, the footnotes? Can these be checked by organisations with more experience? The offers can be quite untransparent.
    - Talk to other in-country clients to discuss their experiences with the ISP and their bandwidth services.
    - etc.
